Privacy Policy
Last updated November 5, 2026
Sea Level Lifestyle LLC runs Blacktop. This policy explains what information we collect, what we do with it, and the choices you have. Short version: your company's data is yours, we use it to run Blacktop for you, and we don't sell it.
What we collect
- Account details — names, email addresses, phone numbers, passwords (stored only as a one-way hash), company name, MC and USDOT numbers, addresses, and billing preferences.
- Business records you enter — loads, stops, rates, brokers, invoices, payments, expenses and receipts, trucks and trailers, maintenance, compliance dates, driver records and pay, and documents you upload such as rate confirmations, BOLs and PODs.
- Hours-of-service logs — duty-status changes, locations and remarks entered in the digital paper log.
- Location — while a driver has a trip open in Blacktop, their phone shares its location so we can track miles by state for IFTA and show the load's progress. If you connect Samsara or Motive, we receive vehicle locations and odometer readings from them. Location sharing stops when the trip ends or the driver turns it off.
- Voice and AI requests — when you talk to Lug Nut, the clip is turned into text to answer you and isn't kept as audio. Documents you ask us to read are processed to fill in forms.
- ELD connection tokens — stored encrypted, used only to read your vehicle data.
- Usage and security data — sign-in times, IP addresses, failed sign-in attempts and an activity log of changes in your account, used to keep accounts safe.
How we use it
- To run Blacktop: calculate profit and mileage, build invoices, packets, reports and logs, send the emails you ask us to send, and remind you about what's due.
- To bill you for your subscription through Wave and to contact you about your account.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- We don't sell your data, rent it, or use your company's loads or rates to help anyone else.
Who helps us run Blacktop
We use a few service providers who process data only on our behalf:
- Cloudflare — hosting, file storage, email delivery and the AI that reads documents, transcribes voice and speaks Lug Nut's replies.
- Supabase — our database.
- Wave — subscription invoices and payments. We don't see or store your card or bank details.
- Services you connect yourself, like Samsara, Motive or your factoring company, receive or send data as you direct.
We may share information if the law requires it, to protect people or our rights, or as part of a sale of the business — in which case this policy keeps applying to your data.
Emails from us
Account and billing emails are part of the service. If we ever email you about Blacktop as a prospective customer, every message includes our postal address and a one-click unsubscribe, and we honor it permanently. Public carrier information we use for that comes from FMCSA records.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. After an account closes we keep it for 90 days so you can request an export, then delete it, except records we must keep by law, such as billing records. Backups roll off on their own schedule.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, each carrier's records are walled off from every other carrier's, documents are stored privately, and two-step sign-in is available. No system is perfect; if we ever learn of a breach affecting your data we'll tell you promptly.
Your choices
- The account owner can see, edit and export the company's data and control who has a login.
- Drivers can stop sharing location by ending the trip or turning it off on their phone.
- You can ask us to correct or delete your information, or close your account, by emailing support@blacktoppilot.com.
Children
Blacktop is for businesses and isn't meant for anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email the account owner and update the date at the top.
